I believe that my AFM is faulty (the car is not idling correctly and on cold start won't idle at all)
Before I get a replacement, can someone confirm what the correct part number is for a 1995 MY P38 4.6 HSE

The AFM that is currently fitted doesn't appear to be the correct one, so I'd like to confirm before I buy.

hi dangermouse if you punch in airflow meters in your toolbar there are a few companies in there advertising click on some and they show you pictures of the different types used for the range find the one that looks the same as yours and you will have a part no attached to it bought one recently cost about £65 turns out i didnt need one anyway but thats rangies for you hope this helps

4.6 Air Flow Meter:
Up to 1999 part no. ERR 5595
-99 on part no. MHK 100800

That makes life more difficult!!
I've got a 95 car, but the engine was replaced by Landrover in 2003

It's got a 5595 currently, but it doesn't seem to fit together with the airbox properly, hence the question.

The AFM 5595 is for the GEMS engine and even though the engine was replaced in 2003 I can't see them fitting the later THOR type. Perhaps the hose from the air filter box to the AFM is wrong. Would have thought that in the 4 years since the engine was replaced an incorrect AFM would have shown itself up before now. Have you checked the throttle potentiometer resistance/setting?
