Hi all, your help please,

Fitted a replacement V8, got it Mot'd when it stated to miss fire, then drove it home6 miles when it died under load, testing the kickdown and had to tow it the last few miles.

Now it cranks and won't start. Got fuel, got spark although weak, changed the following with identical results:

Stepper motor, airflow meter, coil pack.

Plugs are platinum tipped and drowned in fuel. Fuel sports or of valve. There's no air restriction and even tried a hair dryer on hot into the intake, to no avail.

Things it might be?:

Low fuel pressure.
Crank sensor
BECM out of sync with ECM?
CAM sensor.

Before refitting the engine, swopped can and crank sensors when the engine was out and was meticulous.

All electrical items are from the original engine, including injectors and rail, which started and ran OK apart from cylinder head problems.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to call the AA.

I live in Nantwich, Cheshire.

I've tried its EKA code according to the handbook. Had Asda breakdown out who also tried the same and a maxi code reader on it which showed no fault codes!

The message board however states "Alarm fault "and the rev counter remains stationary when cranking which suggests crank sensor fault.

My theory is that the BECM is out of sync with the ECM creating an alarm fault and hence no input to the crank sensor.

My only option so far is to call up the breakdown people (again) to take it to a land rover non-dealership garage with diagnostic and reset equipment charging £54 plus vat per hour.

The problem arose when I replaced the engine and connected up the battery 2 weeks later. It fired up straight away without any EKA code being done. Got it Mot'd30 mind later, started to misfire. Had no power under load, did kickdown then stopped completely and was towed back home.

.... And here we are.

Had it recovered to land range services in Middlewich Cheshire.

They're gonna plug it in for £24ph + vat. That's a good rate!!!
