have you checked the fuel pressure regulator, it is located at the rear of the engine behind the manifold, it looks similar to the old vaccum advance retard unit on the side of old distributors. It will have a small vaccum pipe comming off it, first check the vaccum pipe is in good shape and no leaks and the check the unit hold vacuum, and easy check is to get a lenght of pipe that fits the unit and then suck on it, you should be able to suck and then hold a vaccum, which you should feel on your tounge, if you can just suck and suck and not create a vaccum, the diaphragm has perished in the unit. the unit works on the return side of the fuel system, basically as pressure builds it releases the pressure at a set point, if yours is knackerd it may not be building up full fuel pressure as revs rise.
