Finally, the EAS got me after 165k miles its started to play up, changed a rear RH sensor as the plastic mounts were broken off, a week later the compressor finally wore out, fitted my spare which pumps well and it stays nice and level over a week so no serious leaks, now after about 10 miles it tends to lean to the left especially at the front. The compressor shuts off ok and no constant leaks of air from the valve block when stopped. I wonder if the front left height sensor has had its day I would say its original.
I did not calibrate after changing the rear RH sensor but it seemed ok for a week. Any ideas what to do next?
If i remove the relay under the seat it does stay level.

See what the readings are from all sensors. If one is waaaayyyyy off then its bu^^ered

After changing a sensor, you have to calibrate. The sensors are not precision devices so you would have to be very lucky to get the correct readings from a replacement without calibrating.

Thanks guys, can I check sensors with a multimeter to see what the resistance change is as I move the arm? I think I have been lucky before when changing a couple of sensors on past P38's, maybe not this time, I still have the old software and cable I bought years ago and I used this to reset after the compressor failed will this work for calibrating?

Thanks, yes RSW software, just found a thread by Harry showing how to check with multimeter will do that first.

p38 rear level sensor mounting brackets - are they required on a w reg p38 to be able to fit the rear sensors or are they only required on earlier years ? I know the earlier sensors have flying leads attached and the later sensors have no leads and that the mounting brackets for the fronts also differ. Later front sensor/heatshield brackets are symmetrical with just the 2 through holes which also attach the sensor and earlier front brackets are handed and have 2 through holes and 2 offset m6 weldstuds. The rear brackets I've seen as part of a sensor kit all have 2 through holes and 2 offset m6 weldstuds. Can't find rear sensor brackets for sale separately for love nor money online. I want to put mine back on air and re-fit all 4 sensors. I already have 4 new Dunlop airbags.
