Hi Guys, Have owned/run my 2.5DSE for a year now. So far all good (Except 1 EAS problem, that software/cable from E-Bay sorted in 10 mins)....However, I have 2 probs now. 10 days ago it would not start! Had done a 30 mile journey, 8 hrs previously. I pumped the throttle, I shook the chassis, I used a touch of Easy Start untill eventually the battery got too low.I charged the Batt. overnight & repeated the above. I live in a very rural locale (No Buses/Taxis/Neighbours), so called my local garage, who used his booster box. Still nothing. Though he said fuel was getting through a plenty. He decided to tow it to his workshop & dig deeper:( ..5 mins later he was back..in my car!! He'd dropped the clutch & it started straight away. We proceeded to turn on/off several times, as all was good, he left. All day (Many journeys) No problem. Next morning, Non starter, untill on my 3rd (Wait 20mins/try again) It started. This nightmare is occuring every day, at different times/locales? WTH is up with it & how do I fix it please?
My second problem, is I have a "Open Door,Rear Left" Warning on my dash display. Door & lock all fine, checked, WD40 etc! Still got the warning & obviously constant interior lights when driving around?

As the throttle pedal is not connected to the engine other than by a electrcal wire, pumping it will do no good at all. Check fuse 39 and relay 12. Also check function of glow plugs. More than three sequential cylinders out of commission and it won't start from cold. Having 12 volts to plugs means nothing you need to continuity test each one with wire removed. It is such a ball ache to do, that it is easier, providing you do have 12 volts to them, to just whip manifold off and change them.

Bad starting can also be caused by low cranking speed caused by a bad battery, a tired starter motor, bad connections on the battery, bad earths and also a dodgy ignition relay. BUt as Wammers said if it's from cold it will most likely be glowplugs or the glowplug relay.

For the door lock, take the lock mechanism out, clean, lubricate and also check the micro switches.

Could it also be low fuel level and split pipe in pump? Do you have these probs with a full tank?
