assuming diesel is £1 a litre, as it is where i live, according to this site you got 24 mpg!!!

and, according to this site, if you travelled in a car achieving 24 mpg for 1000 miles(roughly 5 trips) you would save 112 quid on lpg!!

now we know that lpg cars get less miles to the gallon but even at 13mpg petrol you would be saving £200+ per 1000miles against just petrol alone!!

so who doesnt want an extra 200 quid a month(for medium to heavy users) in thier back pocket?? i prolly save 100 quid a month on fuel!!

stick that in yer diesel pipe and smoke it you planet destroying ****s!!!

ahh yes! but i did have me foot down a bit more than i should! on motorway and round town and stuck in traffic lol so i think thats bloody good going..
i have a had a few v8's inc lpg. so when your liners slip or you have HG failure or your engine goes caputt, just remember i'm still running in me oil burner..OH! just remembered how much trouble you had with ya v8 lump gav? and how much time and money has that cost ya then? been there done that!!:D OH! forgot the cost of a lpg system :p back at ya :D

i enjoyed every minute of the repair!!! doing most of the work myself and a very good and kind gent off these forums spotting a linered block going for a good price has kept costs down.

luckily there is no diesel pump to drop dead too(with my luck it would have gone by now if i had one) with a repair of at least 500 quid, then theres injectors that are more expensive and just the cost of oil!! 11 litres in a diesel!! 4.9 in a v8!!!

diesels these days are a rip off, under powered, tree choking, planet destroying, smog causeing unborn child killing hunk of clattering junk!!!! (i'd have the new passat 2 litre tdi sport tho if anyone wants to donate one!!)

so dont come here with ya pipe and brown knitted jumper telling me that you can get 35mpg, beardy!! you cant and never will in a range rover!!!

thats just my opinion!! but what do i know!!!

Obviously not a lot, ill informed opinion does not mean a lot fortunatly. Animals breaking wind put more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere every year than all transport put together. By far the largest contributing gas to the so called greenhouse effect is water vapour. There are around seven gallons of water vapour produced for every gallon of fuel used no matter if it's diesel, petrol or LPG. Diesels produce very little CO2. However the more CO2 you produce the more plant life thrives. Global warming is a natural cycle which has happened millions of times over billions of years. The slight increase in CO2 in the atmosphere is a product of the Sun and subsea volcanic action heating the sea. And not the cause of the sea temperature rising. We are about 800 to 1000 years away from the end of the last ice age cycle. The natural heating and cooling cycle is around 22000 years. You were just born at the wrong time, learn to live with it because there is nothing you can do about it.

gav m8, ive just read all that and ive come to the conclusion-
- you defo have diesel envy lol. and leave me knitted jumper alone! my nan made it :p

the gov't disagrees, and so do a lot of scientists, thats why they charge more tax for cars that pollute more! can i refer you to the V.E.D rates currently in force (although changes have been suspended at present)

i know the sea produces most of the co2 in the world and cow trumps are also contributing this table shows how much each country produces (data for 2006 i believe)note that america produces twice per person compared to the uk, note that china produces the most over all!!

the solution then is to kill all the chinese and then our road tax will go down!!

you will obviously note that i do not have a degree in, well anything and nor do i need one to conclude that diesels are not the answer to global warming and the fella didnt get anywhere near 35 mpg!! neither is walking the answer to global warming and certainly taxing heavily the things that this country relies on such as diesel lorries to supply industry!!

now, leave me alone before i get in over my head and cant type anymore!!!:D:D:D:D:D

i get 25 to 27 around town 37 on the motoway at 70mph and even towing a couple of ton trailer still pulls 28 on the motorway so i ain't a clue whats up with yours mind you mine has been chipped.

The government agree with the small number of scientists who say warming is caused by CO2. It's a good reason to get more tax out of you and I. I think you will find the vast majority of scientists take the natural cycle option. Global warming is undoubtably happening, it's just not for the reasons the government say it is. Anyway enough of that. I have a 1999 DSE in very good nick, it is chipped and the best i have ever had is 28 MPG on the motorway. But having said that my fuel sender unit is dicky, and as the fuel computer depends on that to calculate the MPG maybe i get a little more. But 25-28 around town? I wish.

mines chipped i get 36+ m'ways 21 towing and 26-30 round town depending how i drive but i aint got a light foot

I cannot really argue with that. As i said my fuel sender is dicky, it is never half full. I can fill to just over a notch above half and ten miles down the road it has dropped to a notch below half. So the fuel computer cannot be accurate. I know i am getting more than indicated, but just how much more i don't know.

the ones in the uk will be fine, its the country thats producing the co2!!! plus you could go out to china and set up over there. all the rice you need!:D:D:D:D:D

WEll for all the doubters....I get an average of 28ish MPG and on the motoways i can see the nice side of 34mpg, i'll take pics (when i get it back from the fixers). I do drive her nicely though, and it's the 2.5 DSE auto, 96N with 155k. best bit of sdvice for heavy MPG is remove the lead from the bottom of your right shoe and Enjoy the drive, I still plod on at the speed limits, just don't hurry getting to them, next best fuel save is drive smoothly, anticipate the hazards and drive pro-actively not reactively, I have been pulled over by the rozzers a few times to be told my breaks arn't working....that will be because I haven't put my foot on the break then...

i take your point, i have been adapting a genlte approach over the last 2 days, and, i have used only £1.10 of lpg!!!! dont know what mpg it is and i dont care its quite impressive.

the msg centre is showing 14.2 mpg!!! thats the highest avg i have had plodding around!!!

Hi Folks
I have just joined this forum, I have owned my 1998 manual DSE 125K for four years,
I have found that the MPG correlates closely to average speed,
The lowest I have ever got was 18MPG at 12 MPH average,
Pulling my mini digger on A roads I get 24MPG
A mixture of A roads and M roads averaging 50MPH returns 29 MPG
I dont expect you to believe this but with extreemly dextrous accelerator use I have
gotten the MPG read out up to 98MPG I have photos to prove it,
I will upload them when I find out how,
By the way its good to know that some of you know the truth about CO2 and global
warming,
IE CO2 increases due to global warming and does not cause it,

get a photobucket account, upload your pics there and then copy the image code looks like this

Welcome Bob. Are you one and the same Bobpape who was one of the few who made sensable contributions to the AOL motoring board? If so double welcome.
