isnt Gems or Thor the petrol engine models?
I've got the EDC, diesel o_O
Yes you are correct!
But ....is not normal for the diesel to leak oil. They don’t usually lose a drop even when old and knackered. Unless someone has been in there previously.
Are you sure it’s engine oil not diesel?

Theres oil coming out of the cam cover (a lil bit), and even a small amount out of the oil fill cap  I guess the breather valve is clogged?
But yeah its an oily mess. Theres oil on front rh side of crossmember (under radiator), the whole front diff is covered in oil, (black) stainy.. heck even the gearbox sump is covered in black oil  It came oil down on the fanbelt so thats now brown… it looks ok tbh but its getting changed for sure.
I have bought a gasket for the camcover, and one for the engine sump. But i think it will be hard to change the sump gasket as its conjoined with the front cover?

Now, it doesnt lose that much oil, it does the oil change intervalls fine apparently.
But yeah, its messy. But hey, it marks territory, idk if thats a pro or a con?

i have plans to fix it all tho, just gotta have a cleansing plan aswell… like crap its all black and dirty everywhere underneath. I guess i must just spray some soap/water and wipe with tons of paper and then check where the leaks comes from? I know 3 leaks for a fact.. filler cap, cam cover and cam sprocket cover. (Non EGR)

I suppose engine sump might leak to due to it being black. But yeah i must fix it holy moly, even the middle crossmember under transferbox is black of oil

:eek::eek:

Atleast if it drips you know there’s oil in it ;)

Ah it was you o_O
I have noticed my cam cover weeping since you mentioned. I’m going to rtv it when I get chance. Seems to be bit of oil sloshing about around my filler cap and although I’ve cleaned the cam baffle out it didn’t used to do this. I’m hoping the cover seal weep is causing lack of vacuum as it should be negative pressure not spewing everywhere
Yes there’s bit on front with sump gasket makes it a pain.

Maybe the majority of my issue is that the breather valve is clogged/not fitted correctly. I dont know why, but its loose where its supposed to sit inside the cam cover. And oil fumes usually leaks right out of where the hole for the breather is.
I see that new breather valves are 200euros ++:eek:

Where should i order it from? Remember i live in Norway

or can i easily clean mine?

I used to get the same leak from the valve until I changed the O ring.;)

I had a seal fail on the pipes on the oil cooler end ,Took a while to find ,had oil on the diff as well and around the aircon dryer didn't loose much but it goes a long way towards the back and down ,,On the bright side it looks like new on that side ,even had drips on the gearbox cooler rad :D.

You mean this?

Mine did weep. I swilled it out with petrol and glued it in, Can’t remember what I used to glue it

@dubbleRR
Interesting, is this a hard job to do? I suppose i Miiiiiiight need to drain the oil? It seems like our symptoms are/were quite the same as i have oil on the front crossmember (under the cooler), on one side (not on gearbox cooler side) But i still got few drips of oil on that.

Expensive hose/seals for them? I suppose im gonna do both due to it convenience?
I might need to do my gearbox cooler hoses too, as i see a very little drop under the cooler. Very, very little.
Thanks for this suggestion o_O:)

And @RangeRoller dt yes that is correct, thats what i mean.
Is it easy to open and fix back again? :)

It doesn’t open but it does come off. Be careful don’t snap it. Comes out if you twist it a certain way or something? I don’t recall. Is easy to see if you have cam cover off.

There is a fine mesh that sits inside the top of the rocker cover that needs cleaning its under a plate held with small torqs screws.

That's on his service list already!

I forgot to mention the breather filter thingy though. No end of crap came out of mine.

Was lot of black pushed through in the plastic intercooler duct with mine too. PIA but once it’s done you forget about it (I did :D)
My P38 was still very sluggish back then but it did make it ‘rev free-er’

Been in the garage today and forgot to look at the pumps:rolleyes: Hope you've got some paint handy Jack.;)

Back to the original thread @synchro , the three pumps I have all have two electrical contacts, the pumps have black, white or red connectors.the one with the red has a larger outlet so that's probably the cause of your drip.the pump with only one contact is fecked and that's the reason it's not working.;)

Its one of those jobs i have to do but having seen the hassle with the gasket and bit at the back, it keeps getting put to the back of the list:(

Are you saying my pump is fecked due to it losing 1 pin? i mean i suppose it is :D it needs + and - like the other pumps i guess.. And yes, the ones i took off were Red, and white :) And the red had larger outlet, i probably got a wrong delivery but ill try to manage by just taping around the outlet and fix it. Pressure seemed to be fine.

Anyhow, about the Breather valve. Mine just sits loosely inside camcover+ plastic intake. Like i can just grab it out... It was tied down by zipies before i took it off when i changed intake seals

It only took me 3 attempts and if I'd had a dab of RTV handy it would have been back on in 1.
