There is no guarentee, it was bought off ebay (sold as seen) and from about 300 miles from where i live.

Did you drive it back the 300 miles without it overheating? Temperature guage will not work if there is no coolant in the block:eek:

just been running the engine for 20 mins been sqeezing the pipe next to the power steering fluid to see if there was an airlock (with filler cap off) , then all of a sudden the coolant water was boiling (steam ect) and the water leave was going up and down, if i let this happen again would it push all the air out, if thats what it is, suggestions?

is there anyway for me to see if there is a cracked head? where would i look? how much to sort out normally?

thanks fo all your help by the way

did you buy this private or dealer? also is there any gold coloured particles in the water or around the water filler neck?

could water not be getting to the block because it's airlocked? (is that what your sayin?)
is there another way to clear an airblock? can i do something like, connect a horse pipe and blast water through?

The water boiled, the question is why? Check the little pipe from the top of the rad is clear, you should see water flowing out of it into the header tank with the engine running. Water will boil with the pressure cap off but I would not expect it to do that after 20 minutes idling.I reckon there are 5 possibilities starting with the cheapest first. 1) Water pump failed. 2) Thermostat stuck 3) Radiator blocked of failed 4) Head gasket failure 5) Cracked cylinder head

there are no gold coloured particles, bought it from a dealer, it was sold to him as a part ex and it said sold as seen.

no such thing as sold as seen with a dealer, unless it states that the vehicle is sold as spare parts or scrap!

get the water tested with a co2 "sniffer" i'll wager your headgasket has gone (if your lucky) cylinder head if not!!!
