Good luck doing that on the P38.Hi all!
Looking to change faulty in-tank pump.... not the housing! Did this on my L322 with a BMW pump, can anyone give me a part number or BMW model that uses the same pump, pump only not complete assembly. Ta mucho.
Yep, does look a bit of a t&*t to do.... drop tank or tin opener from the top and hope the connectors aren't rusted out! I might jerry rig an external as it's just to move a parts car. Still helping a chap out with his LR fleet... when I say fleet, I mean he has about 20+ cars... P38, Disco 2, 3... Bobtailed Discos, L322 from 02 to 09 spread over several fields and a warehouse full of stuff I haven't seen yet. He also has other makes but mostly a fondness for later LR. Has another half dozen LR at his house as daily drivers. He might be parting with some to make room for more? Will post on here if he decides to sell or break?Good luck doing that on the P38.
Stick a FACIT pump in the line to the filterYep, does look a bit of a t&*t to do.... drop tank or tin opener from the top and hope the connectors aren't rusted out! Is there any different between petrol and diesel pumps, only say that because I have a few spare pumps out of petrol vehicles, would have thought the flow rate wasn't that different unless using at minus degrees?Stick a FACIT pump in the line to the filter
Just had a look on evilbay and they show cheap FACET pumps are OK for petrol or diesel, answers that question. No reason that it wouldn't draw from the tank through the knackered pump?Stick a FACIT pump in the line to the filter
It's been done before by others, so unless there is a blockage or a split pick up pipe in the tank it should be OK.Just had a look on evilbay and they show cheap FACET pumps are OK for petrol or diesel, answers that question. No reason that it wouldn't draw from the tank through the knackered pump?
There is air in the fuel line, I had gone there to crack an injector etc.. but after testing nada from tank pump. The chap assures me there were no leaks when driven to it's resting place and his tale of woe point towards the pump failing... just a bit concerned about the amount of air in the line? It's been done before by others, so unless there is a blockage or a split pick up pipe in the tank it should be OK.
Wouldn't expect anything else on these, the rear bumper supports have rotted away on this one so I don't hold out much hope for anything metal under the floor. I wouldn't be surprised if rotten connectors is the reason for high amount of air in the line plus a knackered pump? Think I will take a remote fuel supply when I go back next week.Connectors on mine were lumps of rust. Had to cut the lines back a bit and completely replace.
