Has this a few years back. Switched off and left a few hours (I had to, I'd just driven onto a ferry). Came back, all OK and hasn't returned since.

Is it permanent? The CANbus is for communication between the gearbox ECU and the engine ECU, so it may be worth checking the engine ECU connectors. Another possibility is that the gearbox loom has frayed around that notorious P-clip. You may get back up and running by moving the loom a bit in that area.

Do you have a Nanocom, or is it another diagnostic?

Good luck, I know how you feel, I was on a ferry to France!!

They come straight back
OK, the only suggestion I have at the moment is to check the engine ECU plugs and see if you can get to the gearbox loom around that P-clip and maybe move it a bit.

Maybe others have ideas?

Good luck.

Check the ECM red plug, oil can affect the CAN signal too... also check connection in C0162/0448 white and yellow wires(pins 5-6) are the CAN link there, give some contact spray there... if these are ruled out and no joy you'll have to make a continuity check on that circuit between the ECM and TCU

also the battery must be powerfull as well

Now clear and working correctly , very odd.

Few hours after issue
Very pleased it is OK now, but that was the same as mine, we were on the ferry for 6 hours and when started all was fine. Didn't put the Nanocom on it until we'd reached our destination. That was 5 years ago and no repeat since.
