Just a quick question...I have read all the posts on overdrives and definitely think it sounds a good investment after reading summat like " the cost of an overdrive at £200 saves money in the end by better fuel consumption and improved driving on faster roads etc. etc ".

MY question is where do you get an overdrive for £200 cos everywhere I look they are not that cheap????? :eek:
 
If thats the answer i'm gunna hafta wait for my overdrive as the drive, lawn and street outside are full of our vehicles as it is:eek:
 
Just fitted mine. Shade over £200 on fleabay. Most go for around that price on there.

Luck of the draw whether it's a 'whiner' or not, but you can usually tell a fair bit from the quality of the listing. Just amke sure you get ALL the bits you need to fit it as sourcing parts can be an arse.

I've noticed several on there are left fitted to the original vehicle until after the listing ends which is encouraging as even if you can't get there to view before bidding it does suggest they haven't much to hide.

Well chuffed with mine. At a steady 70 it knocks about 500rpm off my injun speed (was 3000, now a shade under 2500) so probably gaining a couple of extra MPG I reckon.
 
i think that gives yu a top speed of 154 if yu can pull 5500 in od top - dont ask me to be with yu when yu try :eek:
 
I've got one in the garage that has only done less than 5K before being removed - i've got 750s and a Turner head on mine and the thought of going any faster is scary so i never got round to fitting it - i'm on the staffs/shrops border if anyone wants to make me a sensible offer for it.

yer but but - if it was fitted i'd have to see how fast it would go just out of interest etc etc - i never do enough miles in it to make it even worth the 20 minutes it would take to fit - so if anyone is looking for a good overdrive I am open to offers for it.

yup - read up on cause and effect studies - i think yu will find that the wearing of tartan hats is due to the effects of senility, not the other way round.
 
look yuz - if i wanted to be the subject of jokes and derisory comments - I can have that at home - I come on here for mutual support and assistance, and because of my sad life, to try and make a friend. One wud be enuf:(
