hi all after some help and advise im fitting an overdrive to my swb series 3 ive fitted the leaver but have got stuck removing the main shaft nut ive read you need a special spanner can any one help thanks dave

Dont know about a special socket but you could get a large socket and cut some slots in it to fit?

Either that or do what most people do and chisel it off and back on.

is it a right or left hand thread because its seem very tight tryed with the chisle

Have you taken the centre seat out and the transmision cover? On the top of the transfer box there is a cover held on by 4 bolts. Take this off and you can get a good swing on i but be warned you can shear the shaft off by hitting it with a hammer and chisel! You have been warned

Oh and its a normal thread, anti clock wise to undo

This should come off easily with a chisel and club hammer, its not meant to be super tight. Have you checked the lock washer to make sure the tabs are not jamming it?
