I've just bought an overdrive off-of ebay (I haven't bought my Series and I'm already buying bits for it! :D)

I've been told that it's all good, very quiet, clean engage and disengage and complete. I'm going to pay on collection - can anyone tell me what I should be looking for when I go collect?

Fanks.

If you need a final drive gear I've got one, other than that just make sure its not chipped and that it doesn't sound like ****

Well I'd think that if its turning by hand and grinding it'll be **** :p mainly teeth for chipping though

Do you want the pdf version of the book showing exploded diagrams of the Fairey overdrive?

that there is oil in it and it all turns freely does not howl and grind when you turn it and the teeth look good if they are worn or have chips bits missing etc then i would notbe buying it

check for wear to the drive splines on the inside of the main input shaft and on the teeth on the clutch bearing, they do wear away over time. If you slide the clutch bearing assy inside the main input shaft and wiggle it you can see how much play there is:eek::eek::eek:
