Need some help, I have replaced the thermostat started up the engine and within about 1 minute the gauge needle went straight to the top. I checked for leaks nothing and the fan was working.

was it hot ie rocker box top and top hose

Yeah top hose was hot. But not hot hot.

Sorry about me answer jamesmartin I just squeezed top hose.

was engine though or just a faulty temp switch, its too short a time for engine to get that hot, a hot top hose shows thermostats opening

I didn’t check engine. What one is temp switch? I have a triangle shaped switch on the right of thermostat housing and one on the left behind thermostat housing? Sorry I’m not very good at talking engines lol.

triangle one is a switch for mixture warning light ,your temp switch is on the rhs as sat in the drivers seat
