Hi Guys
Totally new on here and being female need a bit of help with disco over fueling. Basically the problem is it will start when cold no probs, but once warm it will just cut out (thats how the problem started) and stink of fuel. Went up to Keith Gotts as RAC said it was temp sensor (one to engine apparently the oms? where to high) had replaced and ran fine for about 2 weeks - only cut out once! Now problem is back with avengence last week it cut out wouldn't start so JD Motors picked it up - it then started, they had it for 2 days ran it all over the place but it wouldn't manifest the fault. This weekend every time you stop ie at a junction it will cut out, have noticed if you put it in park and take foot of accelarator it will rev on its own, they will drop right away, if you then try blip the throttle it will cut out - actually it cuts out even if you don't.

RAC came back out to it, usually it will start if left for a bit but not this time, eventually got it started, it makes a tick noise when running he said oh thats the air con - it doesn't have air con, so might be air thingy (yes I'm a girl!) absolutely STANK of fuel (was tempted to light a match solve problem

) ran for a bit cut out, got started again drove home about a mile left foot braking as had to keep revs right up or would cut out. Rang Gotts who are picking it up 2moro, my problem is I don't have alot of cash to keep throwing at it and it might be helpful if I had some ideas as to what it maybe, or if there is someone on here local to Alton Hampshire who knows all things disco, that either could come and look at it or speak with Gotts for me, both garages had it for a few days but could not find/read fault with it so I'm at a total loss with it so much so I burst into tears with it today. Can anyone HELP please!
Oh its an R reg 3.9 V8 auto
Thank you!!!!!!

Hi Nicky,

This maybe a long shot, but my older Disco2 used to have the same trouble. Take the petrol filler cap off for a shot while (as long as you dont have a full tank of fuel) and run it around for a day or so and see if the was a vapour lock in the fuel tank. The older Discos have a self venting fuel cap rather than a fuel breather pipe in the tank. It maybe causing fuel pressure issues. Let me know how you get on.
