Hi,
I've search but can't quite seem to find what I'm after sorry if I've missed it.

I bought a TD5 90 a couple of months ago, it seems to be totally over cooled takes 10 mins before the temp gauge to even move and before I can get any warm air out of the heater and it never goes about 1/3 even when towing a 3500 ton horse trailer up a steep slope.

is that normal? could there be a problem with the viscous fan coupling? Is so would it just be more economical in the long run to fit a kenlow electric fan(given I want to off road the car)?
Thanks in advance

Good point. I assume there is I bought it from a dealer who does up land rovers so it's had quite a lot of work done. but I'll check and make sure isn't stuck open as well.

They are weird looking thermostats on a td5 i would be suprised if it had been bypassed would inolve a bit of work

Mine was the same when I got it - fit a new thermostate (get a genuine LR one or like me you'll be doing it twice!!)

It's a bit of a git to get at as its located near the bottom of the rad on the right hand side if you're looking at the front of the truck.

Solved my problem straight away, warms up within 5 miles and stays at temp in traffic etc

Sounds normal to me. TD5s are overcooled and will actually cool off in traffic no matter what the weather. Mine warms up after five miles or so but its never really toasty like some motors.

I use a rad muff in the cold and removed the viscous fan but it made little or no difference. My leccy fan (disused air con fan) never seems to come on even when towing in the hottest of weathers.
