Good morning,

I always thought the roofs were limestone but have seen a couple of discussions and sites that says they would have been white.

He is a limestone car anyway and I have a pot of paint so am tempted to just go with that but if it would have been white originally I might make the effort to restore it as it was.

BTW, this is for the full roof. I have a truck cab too which I saw somewhere would have been body coloured - can anyone confirm this too?

I inherited the vehicle with black roofs and black wheels. I've just repainted the wheels limestone to match the body and unless someone shouts that white is right for the roof I am going to just do the roof limestone as well.

I have to say, it already looks so much better with limestone wheels than black ones. I'm sure whoever painted it thought it was getting a more aggressive look or something but really, I can't believe the improvement.

Hi mate,

Ive seen both,

mine was in a sorry state when i first got it i think it was limestone,

Doesnt really help, but I think it looks good either colour

Much better looking.

Here's a comparison of my black wheels (as they were) and my new limestone wheels (which I love in comparison).

Looks good, out of interest, where did you get the limestone paint?

I need to do my wheels still.

The bloke I bought from was good enough to include mine with the car. Paddocks supply it though, otherwise I know some places in Surrey if you're local?

Some publication I read, god knows where it came from, but was (I gather) compiled from Rover data states this for a L-R of that year.
Series 11, 11A & 111, from 1958 to 1974 ( I am only mentioning roof and wheels, not the various body colours)
Wheels on S11 are as the body colour, Wheels on S11A & S111 are Limestone [there are various discussions re 'Limestone' some say RAL 1013 some say RAL 1015 -I painted roof and powder coated wheels in RAL 1013]
Doors and door tops are as the body colour, cat-flap on rear door is Limestone, Roof sides are Limestone, but on Station wagon are as the body colour.
Roof tops, on early Station wagon were as the body colour but a Limestone sun shield, after 1968 entire top was Limestone, Pick-up was as body colour with Limestone sun shield (if fitted). No mention of safari roof.
Somewhat strange it states that the roof top on a normal (regular) was white.

I have all 4 wheels done now and started on the roof. It's enough that I thought it was worth sharing in case anyone was interested so here's a quick snap:
