I was wondering if anyone has run across the original prices (MSRP) for Series Land Rovers. I am particularly interested in 1971 6 cyl 5 door 109 prices.

I have done some searching but have not found anything.

Yes...but both I have needed to patch a bit...the chassis has had its rear x member and a few outriggers...spent most of its life outside.

Thanks for the reply.

Have you ever had any major problems with the engine or gearbox?

44 years in regular use is obviously better than many which have been stood idle for years.

the 2.25d was fully rebuilt at 100.000mls...it laster a further 100.000 mls...and was then kapt...bore size over +60...so I found a 200 engine to fit.
After removing the turbo...box has also been rebuilt twice all by me...nobody else has ever touched it....in its whole like.

Apologies to everyone for not following up! For some reason I didn't get any notices about your replies. Thank you all for your data, especially Nickjaxe. I didn't have a clue what they originally sold for so this is a delightful bit of info. I owe you all a beer! ;)

Your welcome...glad you found it interesting.
I used to go into Landrover dealers here in the UK when I was a young boy...and collect the Landrover literature...I was keen on them even then.

I still have it all...inc the production line tags that came attached to mine...I bought it new in 1975...that was as soon as I could afford one.

I dont get replies either...odd.

Nick.

Hi Nick,
Wow, you go way back too! I learned to drive in a Series in the desert of Bahrain back in the mid 1970s. My dad was the advisor to the Minister of Transport and he could take the police and military trucks out for the weekend. Great memories! I have been driving Land Rovers ever since.

If you happen to have a brochure on the 1971 Landys I would love to have a scan and I'm happy to pay you for your time.

Regards,
Ed

Ok found one for Feb 1970.

Station Wagons 10 seat 6 cyl total price £1621.
12 seater 6cyl £1251...there being no purchase tax on a 12 seater.
Could copy if you like.

Nick.

Amazing. You could have bought a house in many places for that money in 1970!

I will have a look Ed and get back...do you own an old series now?
Yes, my '71 109 6cyl was a Swiss firetruck until 2015 when I bought it. At the minute it has 20,000 original kilometers on the clock. Here is a picture.

I'm surprised they were still being used as working vehicles in Switzerland as late as 2015.

Yes, mine was in the small village Cugy just north of Lausanne. I don't think it was used very much. I have the original logbook and each journey was registered. When I bought it in 2015 it only had 12,000 km on the clock and that corresponded exactly with the logbook.
It was just used for hauling hoses and other gear. It was never fitted with a pump. That might have been what contributed to its longevity.

Below is a picture of it when it was still in service.
