Hi Folks,

Lucky blighter, all being well I'm going to order a new 110 hard top 'van' tomorrow.

I've decided to go for the cold climate pack (ie heated seats and windscreen), side and rear steps, front mudflaps, an aftermarket gramaphone (I only listen to Radio 3 & 4) and the bigger cubby box between the seats, but is there anything else you think I ought to add?

Are the uprated headlamp bulbs worth it, or should I just buy my own afterwards? And lamp guards?

I'm not going for alloys, a tow bar or metallic paint, etc, as it's purely for my work.

I apologise for being so ostentatious but I would appreciate thoughts from anyone else who's bought a new one recently.

I probably don't spend enough time in it on longer journeys to justify the extra cost of that to be honest, although on a hot day after spending a lot of time working in a roof, I can certainly see the appeal.
 
Nice one... Central locking might be good, unfortunately I think it comes with electric windows in the same pack... Speed limited to 56 mph for £80 a good one as well... Hehehe
 
You also have to pay extra for a radio!

I quite fancy the central locking as I've worn out several sets of door locks in my Berlingo, but of course it's something else to go wrong, so I'm reluctant to pay extra for it.

As it turned out, I didn't place my order today and it won't be for a little while now due to work, etc (and good advice elsewhere on this forum regarding the best time to do it for maximum leverage on the dealer), so further suggestions are welcome.

The reliability is legendary in all Land Rovers of course....

Don't think you do... Front speakers and wiring are fitted as standard, radio is an option. I believe you can just get your own radio and slot it in. Could be wrong. On mine, bought with 1,800 miles, first thing took radio out and replaced with Pioneer with iPhone input, about £60.

well mines been reliable ,18 years old,nearly 150k,300tdi and i do the same job as you gas engineering annorl put 15k miles on it since april

Er, what you've just described is paying extra for a radio, as I originally said. But you're quite right, the base vehicle includes 'radio preparation' and you can fit your own. Still a bit stingy of them on a vehicle costing nearly £25,000 though.

It's good to know other similar tradesmen to me are using them too.
