Hi I've got a freelander 2 07 drives great then engine management came on (I k now nothing about these I'm female has a water leak u nder drivers side near bumper (and a other one smaller tiny one separate to it my questions are I turned it of light didn't come on,I'm scared to drive it in case does damage, but need to get it to a garage will it be ok to go ten miles?what could it be?THanks for help (

If the water leak is from the engine's coolant and is so bad that you can see it (rather than it just dispersing), then I think you'd be running a high risk of ruining your engine by driving it 10 miles. I don't know the F2, but on my F1 the washer bottle is tucked up under the bumper on the drivers side - but don't go by that. I'd have it examined or wait for someone on here who may be able to give more advice.

Thank you I had the aa out yesterday, he seemed to think the water bottle was the cause but as it's tucked up under bumper he had mats under and we filled the water bottle up three large jugs he seemed to be adamant it was from the water bottle but it needed stripped really them today the engine light came on ,is the radiator near the water bottle?

Do you mean screen wash reservoir or radiator expansion tank ?

Didn't the AA technician read the codes to find the cause of the engine management light (MIL)?
Hi the management light came on today ,I had called as out for the water leak .He said not coolant on floor as not sticky I think he said on the finger he tried I drove it twenty miles today and Round corner from home the light came on

well at least its giving you entertainment then dippypud by the sounds of it, i asked for advice and help not taking the mick

You need to get the engine management codes read, that will tell you the cause of the light coming on, even if it is off at the time the code is read.

Any good service station or garage should have a code reader that will do the job.

Screen wash he said he was sure he said he couldn't see full bottle as tucked away under bumper

AA tec can't check whether coolant or screen wash is leaking and there's codes showing?!! If you called them out for the engine management light that's what he should be checking not water levels or did you not tell him about light just fluid leaking?

When was it last serviced? The majority of call-outs for orange lights are for: please take me to a garage in order that...... rather than: I have a fault and the code is....
:)

My engine management light has been on for 3 years, I only worry when it starts flashing. When it does that, I slow down a bit. As long as you don't need to keep topping up the coolant,I wouldn't worry about that either.

If you've filled washer bottle to brim and it's still full next day and you've not used washers it not got a leak,if you have to top it up then the tanks leaking,if you don't run engine and use washers and no water comes out on screen but water appears in the place you've seen it then there's a leak in pipe work do front and rear separately. Run engine don't use washers and if leak appears it's coolant,AC fitted to car?
