I'd used it for the bits the angle grinder couldn't reach which is why I'd taken the base plate off it but I have used it in the past for cutting 2mm steel, jigsaws are a bit more precise than using an angle grinder when it comes to cutting chassis templates out of sheet steel.
So it was angle grinder to the rescue on this occasion, it can also be a bit more controllable when you don't want to cut through what's beneath and 1mm disks are great for filling with weld to hide where you've gone wrong
Got one of these little air saws from machine mart and they're brill at getting at hard to reach bits like footwells behind the pedals
