I take it you've all seen motorcycles parked at the side of the road, with the exhausts completely bare? Anyone could brush their leg up against it, and they're not illegal. The general etiquette in the UK is that people just don't touch other peoples vehicles, full-stop, so I wouldn't have thought that it wasn't a concern, personally, unlike the lack of a silencer!
It doesn't look to have been done very well though. If you were to have a proper truck style one, there'd be a heat-shield, and the hole at the top wouldn't be there just asking for the rain to start pouring in, it'd be bent at a right angle, or have a top hat. Enjoy trying to get your engine started the next time it's out in heavy rain overnight!!

all i can say is...oh dear
if you want something like that do it properly...heat shield, and flip top (for rain) then if you will survive the exhaust fumes you'll be ok, no point bragging about dodgy MOT stations on an open forum, you'll have plod knocking on your door very rapidly, asking where this alleged MOT station is, then they will have VOSA all over them like flies on ****, doubt they will be too happy about that

Wait for me, I've not had a pop yet I have two young kids. They always do what they're not supposed to. Did you not learn as a kid that fire burns, because you touched it, not because you were told so! And on the subject of bikes, I konw several people who have burnt themselves on bike exhausts, including me! ( I actually also know three people who have burnt themseves quite badly on household radiators, but thats another story).

what about a cobra or a westfield or a caterham etc that have manifolds and exhausts at the side in much more of an easy reach.
not sure why it would be illegal though apart from the noise.
it will fill up with rain without a cover lol best get a heat shield on it though.
