I noticed this when I bought it, but been having too much fun pratting around to worry too much, anyhoo.

When I turn on the heating/cooling no matter what setting I use, the air only blows out of the windscreen vent and the itty bitty vents above the main forward facing ones on next to drivers and passanger side door (but not so much).

Temperature wise it works hot/cold, but it just doesn't come out of any other vent but windscreen. Footwell, forward facing, and ones in the back behind the central console thingy and it's irritating the hell out of me now.

On top of that the AC doesn't work either, the button lights up when pressed, but nothing comes of it and it turns off after a while, I'm assuming it's just discharged and yet another thing the ebay seller (dickhead) did not mention. It's currently £45 to recharge the AC, (missed out on the £30 winter sale), but as I'm currently a bit low on the old cash flow I wondering if it's worth it, or should I leave it until I can get someone to look into the issue of none of the vents working as I assume this will possibly (probably?) affect the AC.

Anyone have any suggestions or advice on this matter?

I think you will find that the air con is on by default, ie if you switch the red light on you are in fact turning it off. as far as the vents are concerned you will find loads of info if you search "blend motors" they control heat and distribution

That is correct lamp on means AC off. :);)

Thanks for the info, pressing a button and having it light up meaning it is turned off is a bit counter intuitive haha, either way it's not working as otherwise surely I'd have ice cold air blasting up at the windscreen not just outside temp :)

I'll look into blend motors thanks.

Not when the button it self says A/C OFF :p

Blend motor that maybe faulty is the top one on the R/H side of heater unit. Before you change it make sure the quadrant that it drives and the two gears the quadrant drives move full and free. Lot of work to free those off properly if they are seized.

Last winter my P38a did the same thing, blowing hot air to the windscreen only, with some coming into the cab. No problems I thought, at least it'll defrost the screen. Come summer, the distribution flaps worked perfectly  Maybe I have the model with SCDF (season controlled distribution flaps) :D

I knew a woman with SCDF, frosty bitch.:D

Put it on diag. If you get distribution motor stalled, bet on the rear flap or quadrant being seized. Front flap never seizes. Quadrant can be freed off with heater in car. With difficulty. Rear flap needs heater removing and stripping to do it properly. That means dash out. Quadrant MUST be replaced properly to marks on itself and front and rear flap gears.
