Well it has been a bit of a wait and effort, but I finally got the Fuel Injection pump swapped over on my 1998 DSE and I have now got the power back again (well the little power the diesel gives you) ;)

It know has the original pump back on again (long story) after having it sent away to be tested, calibrated and a couple of parts replaced/ repaired on it after a local "diesel specialist" had messed around with it.

The one they fitted had worked OK but had a fuel leak on it but then once they "fixed" the leak it ran like a bag of sh!te, no power, would not start and lots of black smoke.

Only problem is the "small" oil leak I had on the oil cooler pipes is now a bit more and also leaking oil from the rocker cover gasket, so have ordered the parts to do these jobs as well as replace the crankcase breather (£90 for a bit of rubber and filter )

The next decision is whether it will be worth sending the FIP I took off away to get tested/repaired and recalibrated and either keep it as a spare or sell it. I bought it for £70 off but the testing/ calibration will cost £140+VAT plus any parts that need repairing on it.

Can i take it that your local diesel specialist is no long held in that regard. :D:D

which diesel specialist did you use

You can say that again. :(

It was Durham Motor Services near Beamish, so far I have found the following missing:-
One bolt missing and the other very slack on the Throttle Potentiometer
Nut missing from the bottom bracket to the Fuel Injection Pump
Both bolts and nuts missing from the two support brackets for the inlet manifold plus the rear bracket missing.
On the original FIP parts had been taken from the stop soloniod and the top cover had been damaged.
Don't know yet what they did to the FIP they fitted which I have just taken back off, won't know until I get it tested, etc.

The place I used to test/repair/ calibrate the FIP I have just fitted is Thomas Fuel Injection at Blyth (Northumberland).

Just found a problem in I have a fuel leak from where no4 injector pipe attached to the FIP, have tried 3 times to stop it but no good, looks like I will have to find a replacement pipe or pipes.

-there's a company in peterlee called diesel solutions that i use to do my injectors they are pretty good not heard anything bad said about them :D
