You don't need to do any cutting if taking the dash top off. I used the method on PaulP38 website. Worst part is getting to the nuts through the instrument cluster, but this is much easier if you lever the duct out that feeds the RHS vent. First time for me was about 4-5 hours, but second time only took 2 hours to remove.

Then doing the heater core is easy, plus you can check & sort any flap or servo issues. Audi core in mine still works really well after about 2 years, and zero leaks.

Yes I cut the dash frame but still could not get it out because of the steering column so gave up and just did the o rings.

The dash-still-in-method of matrix swap out is for the LHD P38's I believe as - as Brian found out above - the pedals and steering column are in the way.

Wow that Paulp38 site is good. I can't go to all that effort and leave in my problematic LH blend motor so I might have to find someone who knows how all the HEVAC works to come and help me diagnose what's wrong with that. For the time being I might have to re-route around the matrix as having a V8 in bits is not having a V8!
