When I broke down (see first post) another defender driver went past, turned around, and came to see if I was OK. And today one of the blokes I work near who I don't know beyond saying "hello" to heard my story and out of the blue offered me a spare turbo he had. I've got to say that I've accidentally joined a very friendly and helpful club.
I found this with motorbikes too, even the motorcycle police are friendly. Coincidentally you may be amused to hear that (as I couldn't take my new landy out) last night I went out on my bike and somewhere on my outward journey part of the rear seat fell off. I wont mention bikes again here.
If anyone has anything currently in full working order that for some reason they want to break just let me know and I'll come round and touch it - that should finish it off.
Anyway. I'll shortly be starting new threads as I get my head under the bonnet (which needs to be pushed to the left to open). My first thread may be entitled "why oh why does this poxy alarm key fob not work even with new batteries and pressing it multiple times in various ways according to assorted previous threads that have worked for everyone else". But seriously I'm not going to investigate that until the turbo is fitted and I can take it out for a proper run.
