Howdy all.

Whilst changing all the bushes on me motor I got to the last few on the rear shocks and guess what?

I've sheared the upper shock mounting bracket on the rear driverside. It is part of a casting and I think they are the same both sides. Not sure if the TD5 brackets are different to earlier motors though.

I've attached a piccie from my RAVE disc but my bracket looks a little different as it has five mounting holes and not three. Only three are used but different holes for each side. The part in question is labelled 6 in the picccie.

Anybody got a spare that they dont want?
There's beer tokens in it for you.

I can't believe all the others went reasonably smoothly and virtually the last one went tits up.

Can you remember where you got them?
Ebay has them for £17 plus postage.
Fiver is more my style.
Cheers

Does anyone know the thread size on the upper mount?
I need to get a new lock nut as the old one has the remains of the sheared bit in it.
I dont want to risk taking the other side off to measure it until I've got the new bits.
My local machine shop has hundreds of nuts and bolts but I need the size and thread.
I'm guessing metric as its a 1998 Defender ?
I dont want to go to my Landy stealer because I live in Surrey and they think I'm rich. They'd probably try to charge me a fiver for the nut.
Cheers all.

This is the offending item.
Found them on eBay at £18 each plus £7 postage.
Probably Britpart but beggars can't be choosers.

i cant remeber if its a 17mm Nut or a 19mm, if its a 17mm then the thread will be M10,
if its a 19mm nut then the thread will be M12

Algeria - only 4 countrys over is Somalia you aren't a pirate are you?
Oooops - you've rumbled me

No, I've been working for one of the oil companies teaching their local drivers how to keep their 4x4s the right way up in the sand dunes.

Good fun but the scenery is boring - sand and oil rigs as far as the eye can see in all directions.

Why dont people ask before buying off ebay .......:frusty:

I am POSITIVE if you look in the section for spamming bastids in the anything goes section there is someone (ME) selling landy parts :D

Don't you just hate it when a perfectly good customer walks past the shop...

Did not think to look on here for sellers.
So did you have any and how much would you have charged?
Now I know you have spares I'll put you top of my list but I needed the part sharpish because my Landy was zebedeeing down the road and I was off to Algeria in a few days.
