i currently have some Hankooks on extended rims which will never in a month of Sundays pass an IVA test but do look rather good. so i have bought some standard 16in wheels and want to pop some damn good road tyres on, something that will make a lot of sense for motorway driving and handling in the wet, I've seen a huge variation in tyres on Defenders from narrow tyres to wider, its the wider style road tyres im after. any suggestions please

I'm probably going to use something from the Coopper Zeon range, but that's months away, so it would be great if you'd try them for me...

I run my Defender 110 on 235 x 85x 16 General Graber AT2's. I'm very happy with them. Noticeably good in the wet and snow, not noisy. and seem to be getting good mileage out of them. Work well on motorway driving and crossing the Sahara.

The standard road tire on new fenders is the latitude cross. Seem alright for road work.

With standard 16" rims, if they are the standard Land Rover 5.5" wide rim, then you're limited to 7.50s which are probably narrower than you want reading your post. However the Lattitude Cross mentioned above comes in that size and are a good tyre.

To fit wider tyres (235/85R16 etc.) you will need to fit wider wheels - either 6.5" 'Wolf' HD steels, or aftermarket modulars (for example), or alloys of course.

If you are going to do a lot of road driving, have a look at 750x16 commercial van tyres.
I've been running them for years with no problems.
However, if you want a bit of 'knobble' Goodyear do a good one for around the £200 mark.

no nobble needed, keeping the Hankooks for the nobblyness, this is IVA test stuff and a may as well havean alternative, the landy is a camper conversion, well will be when its finished so as much fun as off roading is thats going to play a smaller part than usual
