ok guys put a few posts up about my discovery 2 auto box but still no closer to finding an answer. Gearbox is working fine going up and down the gears but it doesn't go into throttle lock. It's had new oil and filters, I've done stall test etc etc. I have noticed it goes into throttle lock sometimes when it's raining ( not as well as it should but it does do it ) is the throttle lock controlled by ecu or a solinoid that might be sticking. Please help before I hit it with my left bollock

this is going to sound useless wasn't there something about an x y z switch , ????
 
Check the loom for chaffing, sounds like the lock wire may be broken, I am 75% sure it works by grounding.
 
Do you mean torque lock? That is a function of engine and road speed. Controlled by the gearbox ECU.

u know i'm going to ask a stupid question:eek::eek:

the stall test , is that where u put ur foot on the brake and then into drive, then rev the engine and it shouldn't stall whilst holding the car stationery

In an auto, foot on brake rev engine, max RPM achieved is torque converter stall speed. Don't do it for more than a couple of seconds.
 
It's the loom to the box you need to check XYZ switch only tells the ECU which mode the box is in.
Can't see anything wrong with wiring, so here goes another silly question. Just put a volt meter across the battery and get a reading 12.2v before I start the engine. With the engine running, lights, heater on I am getting 13.6v. Could my problem be lack of power as some people are getting over 14v with engine running

Don't know what the regulator rate is set at on a Disco II but if it is 13.8 you should get that at 2000 RPM with everything switched on. Battery if good should read 12.6 fully charged. A 14.2 volt regulator would be better or maybe the brushes are worn in your regulator. If you have a large voltage drop to the gearbox that could be a problem yes.
