Why don't members put their location on their profile??

It would make it a lot easier to be able to maybe offer local assistance:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:
 
That's fine.....just wait until you are in the ****e and screaming for help and not knowing that there could be someone just round the corner...........or do you know all there is to know about P38's???????????
 
I am with you John.

I also think it would be really helpful to have a directory of people who can help with their locations. Almost like a services directory.

Maybe some people think the less lucky members of the forum will creep out and steal their (partially) working P38s if they put their home address up to replace their non-runners.....

I totally agree I wouldn't mind helping others out, but if there's no location.......old fart 2......;)

Yep, I agree, I'm no expert on the P38, (learning fast!) but I know about air systems and electrofrickery so always happy to try and help where I can make a useful contribution:D Very old fart 3 (but in better working order than a P38)
 
Bet Datatek don`t have too many dropping by for coffee! I would argue a bit about the P38 off-road abilities tho`. Given it is a compromise in design, it does surprisingly well if wearing chunky tyres, instead of motorway slicks, and even a Series Landy is gonna have troubles if you cross rivers with wires haging off the back of the alternator....... (Light blue touch paper and retire)

There are at least 3 P38's near me that I know about plus a friend who might have bought one today:eek::eek::eek: All are diesels.:D

As for off road, it's the height sensors and the location of the BECM that is just plain stupid for a vehicle that is supposed to be off road capable. Heavy rain last time I visited the UK was enough to flood one sensor connector and drop me to the bump stops.:( Apart from the electrics it is I'm sure potentially very capable:D Good enough to pull me out of my valley in the snow tho, or haul the caravan out of fields:D:D:D

Anyone down this way on holiday is welcome to pop in for a beer or coffee.
 
I`m typing this with my fingers crossed, so`s not to aggravate the Gremlins, but have managed to run thro` water over hub height, with no probs.... Yet. True the sensors are a potential weak link, but that`s difficult to avoid with the EAS system. I think I`ve seen you post before supporting retention of EAS against replacement with bits of twisted metal stuff. I do agree, but this is another one of those niggles isn`t it? Still gives us old farts summat more to moan about, eh?
 
i think for 'off road' where p38's are concerned you should just read 'not on road' which basically means the gravel on one's drive!

Thats a very kind offer, I will keep it in mind. Mostly I order from Rimmers or P38 Spares but the carriage is a bit on the heavy side. PM me if you want an address:D
