I can get more pics of the bug tomorrow as I left a water bottle fuel of it from the tank for the boat owner
the diesel is almost black.

It was a red diesel tank he bought probably for heating...had to drop the Kubuto tank clean the pipes but the filter stopped it getting to the pump and obviously the injectors...I lived on the estate so could filter the diesel in my spare time if I remember it was around 200 layers of roller towel I used replacing the top one that caught the jelly every fill...still came out red though...boss went on holiday I got pulled up by executive director why I was still going to garage to by diesel he blew his top...got the go ahead to buy new plastic tank with a fill connection and level(which I built from parts lying around in the barns)before he came back from holiday...the Landy I used to travel down to Portugal was a 110 hard top with seats in the back for the kids and a rear bulkhead behind them and side windows with a Nissan 3l engine towing a caravan...and rib on the roof rack as well really helps in the sun for insulation...

Ive done countless boats over the years with diesel bug & never replaced any pumps or injectors, done one last
week see pic & I got called out to a stranded boat on Sunday same prob its got the bug...
& no its not an oil filter lol

I dont now the exact details of why the inj pump was replaced, I dont think the previous owner could bear to think about it, but he did say the stodgy fuel had somehow caused a bracket to bend inside the inj pump itself and they werent available as a seperate part hence the new pump, apparently took some finding and he was told it was the last one ever and there simply isnt any more which is quiet believable as its the old perkins Maestro van diesel engine and when was the last time you saw one of them on the road?

When I did the cambelt the pump was one tooth out and it took some working out why as the mech didnt have the bosch ve pump dial gauge to set it up so had sort of guessed as near as he could!

Im sure we sold one of they perkins about 2 months ago, I think it was for somone's project & they haven't used it
I will ask today if its still kicking about in the other boat yard iirc the alternator was off as I had to hunt for it cant mind if it was blue or green.

Ours are green which means the parts are double normal marine prices:rolleyes:
Though to be fair its only needed service stuff so far and two water injection elbows as they had pretty much rotted through.

Aye green stuff costs more lol I did find out about the engine & it has been fitted, the boat is sitting
on a driveway about a mile from my house.
