I have heard about Dump Valves being fitted to series trucks, Can it be done on a 2.25 Diesel S3 5brg engine?, And what are the benifits of doing this?. Just want to know if it can be done And more than likey, Would do it just to be different

Yeah thats what I thought, I know you can fit them to 200's and Prima turbo diesels, But I have heard you can fit them to Naturally Aspirated engines.. Seen a few on 2.5 N-As but dont have a clue how its done

Dump valves are there on turbos to stop the turbo ****ing itself and blowing up under pressure when you change gear or something similar. Theyre not for naturally aspired engines. They're exclusive turbos in the same way boost gauges are.

Yep, that vid says it all, if anyone puts a purposfully loud dumpvalve on a turbo landy, they shouldnt own one. GRR

it sounds a lot more chavvy than you think.
on an engine tuned to provide more power then normal its a good idea , sometimes.
on a landy its a waste of time and just sounds 'chavvy' ,bolt on 3'' chrome exhaust tail pipe , led windscreen washer jets type of chavvy.

why not do it properly?

at least then you will have just as much bite as you have bark.

The "dump-valve" or wastegate to give it it's proper name is part of a turbocharger. All turbos have them, but there are two (technically three) types. What you're talking about is called an atmospheric wastegate, and vents excess pressure during the spool down phase giving the characteristic whooshing noise.

In my job as a mechanic I'm unfortunate enough to have to drive 'boys' cars with these stupid things fitted, the whooshing noise drives you potty and it's bl**dy embarasing.
You can't fit one to a N/A engine.

I have one on my my 4X4. But then it is a Mazda 323 Turbo . IMHO I like it as its not too loud...some people will hate it of course. You can buy dump valve effect gadgets for NA cars...now that is sad!

The only dump valve in my landy is installed on the drivers seat every time I get in.

Okay what about lowering it?.. Was thinking of buying some nackered old springs? You know, For better road handling?
