Nope, not as rusty as a Discovery. Plus it's better looking, better equipped, faster, more economical, safer by a country mile, and not driven by a luddite.
Absolute rubbish.
You won't beat a disco 1 in all areas....
Just out of interest do you have difflock ?.
I've never owned a Freelander thankfully.
I also own a rust free discovery 1. So I'm intrigued to see pics underneath your Freelander ...

The Freelander has a locking coupling between front and back, so it's got 4WD with clever traction control through the terrain response system. It's pretty good for a car that's designed for only mild off road work. It's not designed to do what you say makes a D1 better.
A D1 is so slow it can't get out of it's own way, a Freelander 2 has better road performance, better brakes, better handling, better comfort, better economy, better safety, better audio system, better everything except extreme off road, where 99% of driver's never go.
Why would I compromise all my comfort, performance and everything where the Freelander is better, for a function I and most others simply don't need.

Try driving one before simply dismissing them based on a narrow minded opinion.

Why do you want to look under my vehicle, it's just a vehicle which gets the job done with little effort.

No thanks, I prefer my leather Aircon off road thanks and I definitely prefer it starting in the morning.
If I wanted a 4x4 for the road I would drive a rangie.
But hey if you like driving a car dressed as a land rover good luck.
I go off road most days and don't need a poor coupling breaking.
2 axles is much better.
As for on road it's mostly lanes where I live so don't go over 60 .
If I do go to Newquay I drive the car as it's mostly tarmac around there.

Someone with no licence
And a reasonable bank account, as those aren't really cheap enough to use and discard when not needed. Well I suppose if they're a drug dealer with no licence, then it's a discrete way to get about, unless you don't have all the paperwork correct, then it gets spotted eventually.

Just aircon, the Freelander has proper duel zone climate control, and heated electric leather, heated windscreen, heated power fold mirrors, amongst a million other bits of tech not even invented in the D1 days.
You can willy wave all you like, but the Freelander is a more reliable, better equipped, more economical, more powerful, more comfortable and safer place to be, if there's no need to go off road.
If I drive at 60 it will do 45 MPG, or 35 at 75 MPH. And if someone decides to crash into me, I know the family is as safe as it can be.
Oh and mine has never not started, it starts on the button every day, even when it's freezing cold outside, and within 30 seconds of an icy start I have warm air from the heater, and a de-frosted windscreen.
Of course it's not actually a Land Rover (it's mostly Ford), except it was built in the LR Halewood plant alongside other LR vehicles.

Wots tarmac?! Nothing that sounds like that round here. Is it the stuff they make potholes out of?
To be honest, the roads down here are getting bad now. The council seem to spend money on crap for blood holiday makers, and neglect those who have to put up with them, while charging stupid amounts for council tax.

I'm all for banning the summertime influx of emmets, but apparently the hotel and guest houses need them, but ordinary residents don't or want them.

I get 35 mpg.
Heated mirrors, heated windscreen.dual control on aircon. Twin sunroofs ,7 seats.
Off-road use.
Cheap insurance and cheap parts.
It's still better than your Freelander by aFar way and it's 25 years old.
Lol face it your just driving a car.
Land rovers stopped being built in 1998. 😁😂
