OK Guys

please don't jump on me and try to be gentle :rolleyes:

I bought 2 of the replacement (admittedly not OEM) plastic fob replacement cases to repair my ageing 2001 RR ones. I got the original one apart with the help of a junior hacksaw (it was totally glued together maybe by PO ?) and a Stanley knife

Compared both halves with the new ones and looked Identical, so rebuilt into the new case and although it all works fine the key blade retention does not hold it flat into the 'shut' position rather letting it protrude maybe 3-5 mm at the metal key end ?

I have had it apart and tried the spring thing in lots of different positions I can think of but all to no avail, it opens and locks open OK and releases on the button push and folds all the way as should and does 'lock closed' but NOT fully closed ??

Any ideas especially with pictures of where your spring is situated and placed to advise me ??

I can see the logic here :D however sometimes one just has to bite the bullet and get divorced !! in the long run its cheaper ;)

Despite all the niggles, my P38 has cost peanuts to run and appears to still be worth pretty much what I paid for it nearly 5 years ago.:D:D
The most expensive part has been the cost of the Faultmate that has only rarely been used.

Dont know my last divorce cost me a house a car then in the end my job! still I have my sanity or so my psychiatrist tells me :D

Whats wrong with your old fob?
You can get replacment rubbersfor the buttons and new batery cover too
They fit pretty good aswell
 
:5bdriving:hi , I just had a new fob case with blank key delivered this morning along with the refurb batteries pressel pads etc ,,both off the bay of E , well my spare fob case was to say the least "fecked " anyway stripped it apart very very very carefully to get circuit board out . put into new case then put my keyblade in closed it , put batteries in ,bingo all tested and working great !!!!!!! total cost £22.00 saved buying from main dealer at "£128.00 + all you need is a bit of patience and be VERY carefull , this is the 2nd time ive done this ,as I did one for a friend last year and no comebacks ,,so it can be done lads when you are taking the keybit part apart note !!! where and how the" spring and plastic cup that holds the button " comes out it has pre cut slots in the metal key which the cup slots into and the spring has the extra bit at top to make it spring out on release if you get my drift that bit has to be pre tensioned by placing it behind the raised plastic bit on the other side of the fob so twisting the spring when completing the fob . hope this makes sense good luck cheers mozz

On the 15th of January I took delivery of my new key from the main dealers after producing the log book etc, it didn't fit the lock.......

Took it back along with an old key so they could get it right. Phoned them last week to be told, "err we need a tool to fit the new key to the remote, we'll call you back"

Still no news as of today, not great device and I am £145.00 lighter

And I have been trying to do the right thing by my high maintenance Blondie!!
 
If you buy these cheap cases you need to get the ones that come complete with a new blade.

The original blades dont fit the cheap cases properly and you seem to get this problem most of the time.

It doesent cost much to get the blades cut and you can do it before you swap the internals over.
