hi, i recently got a 1990, 90. ive been doing jobs on it to get it ready for the mot. so i thought i would give it a service, the air filter and housing were covered in oil, dont know when it was last done but the oil was not wet so to speak it seemed old and dry if you know what i mean. is this bad or very bad?

Is it a TD? If so, then normal.

To be honest, its fairly normal in some cases anyway. Make sure all the breathers are not blocked, clean it out, and change the filter often.
