Hi Chaps,

This morning while braking hard at red traffic lights, in my 2.25 petrol S3, I noticed that my oil light came on momentarily. The oil level is correct and the oil is just a few months old. I assume that the oil is surging forward in the sump and therefore starving the pick up pipe of oil. Is this assumption probably correct, is it quite common, is there a fix?

Cheers

Mike

mine comes on going round some corners, specially when i am in a hurry

check it again just in case but dont worry about it

used to happen in me 2a as well, never worried about it as long as the light went out when it started in the mornin.
tells ya sumwhere in the owners manual for a v8 cant remember wevva it was the rangie or disco, that the oil light may even flicker on at low revs if stationary in your mota

The standard sump has a baffle plate to stop this happening, if your level is ok check the position of the oil pump pickup,(it’s inside the gauze filter assy) they have been known to rotate slightly if the lock tab isn’t working, rotating lifts the pick up tube and a gulp of air is what happens.
Problem, you have to remove the sump to find out.
