I can see for the D3
Wrong engine oil quoted says A3/B3 when it needs A5 and also says 0/40, whereas recommended oil is 5/30
Wrong gearbox oil quoted Dextron 3 when it needs ZF lifeguard or equivalent.
Wrong tfer box quantity, quoted 1 litre, its nearer 1.5 litres.
Im also not sure the tfer box oil is the same as the std diffs?

Yep, thought the gearbox oil was lifeguard, shame as i have 15l of dex 3 still in the garage. Also, thought the diffs were Ravenol?

Ok, but who's the producer of the product ? I stick Halford's semi synth in mine but it's produced by Comma Oil.
Well it won't be Asda themselves, I'd imagine one of the major producers selling to them,
My point being if it meets the correct specifications then you don't need to spend fortunes on brand names

blimey thks for the heads up ,

this was the oil i found for the gearbox , seeing we don't have to use the ZF for life anymore , as that's £20 per litre

Amazon product

these are the other ones so far i've found to be recommended , expect we can add to this list

Meyle ATF PLUS 6

Mannol AG55

Millermatic ATF DM

this is the other oils for the auto box ,

http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=81862

see what u guys think ,as with oils now getting better than the ones land rover recommended back when the D3 was launched

thinks it good that we can now list what oils where using and the feedback

i used millers atf fluid in my jatco gearbox and was superb , fancy trying the Mannol AG55 on my gearbox

couldn't agree more , if they meet the spec then i can see the problem

nearly fell over seeing the price of ZF oil, £20 per litre is indeed very expensive when there are just as good alternatives

think it's just the atf fluid is the one in question of what people use , everything else i think is personal choice , as we buy it with the correct spec that's recommend by land rover

plus if this is helpful to u guys

Not being picky, but pretty sure B spec is for petrol engines, EDIT A = PETROL, B = DIESEL

Keep it simple as you are creating a minefield for peeps later on who will try and make head or tail of whats what.

In a nutshell oil 5/30 A5/B5 spec, make irrelevant so long as it meets the spec.

I think you will find practically any atf/dextron oil will work in the gearbox BUT the older style oils wont last as they simply arent good enough spec wise and will degrade very quickly due to the temps.

Example we have trucks at work running allison autos, spec calla for Dextron 6, they supply and we drain/refill dextron 3! they work fine initially after an oil change but very quickly the temp kills the oil and you get very jerky changes, one is so bad you brace yourself against the seat for the change to 2nd gear!

Are you sure? I thought it was "B" spec for Diesel engines.

Cheers

Nope from memory, will check.

But A1/B1 spec has been knocked on the head as of late 2016 and is now A5/B5, so any oil labelled A1/B1 is old stock.

thks as always , i certainally wouldn't wish to make a confusing list , just simple so others find it a useful thing not a crypton factor, lol

as always am extremely grateful for the info
