Hi all, D2 & FL1 owner here, stop hissing children :). Today to help out this chap I've used my Foxwell NT530 to reset the service notification on a MY2009 4.0 V8, it did all the auto VIN recognition stuff & although the Foxwell went through the motions to where it said completed the Rangies display still said service 01/24, does this mean it's failed ? The only thing we didn't do was turn the ign. off for any length of time to allow everything to power down (only briefly to unplug the Foxwell) so would this be the reason it didn't reset ?The chap works at a local McDonald's where I normally grab a coffee & then use the 1 1/2 hr parking to walk the mutt on the heath opposite. We'd got chatting about 6mths ago, as us LR/RR owners do, & he mentioned recently he'd done the oil service but couldn't reset the display so in an act of LR community spirit I offered my services so any help/advice would be much appreciated for next time I see him,all the best.

Sometimes you have to do it more than once... Ficle isn't the word 😳
Funny you should say that when I was having the D2's a/c regassed at my local tyre depot (who also do servicing) I over heard them saying they couldn't reset the oil service display on a 2020 Jag XR thingy with their snap on device, which is where the ever helpful me stepped up & lent him the Foxwell & hey presto job done but I seem to remember it took him a few attempts ! Tar very much I'll try again next time I walk the mutt.

I am sure it can be done with just the car no need diagnostics. its a combination of button pushing it may even be in the manual.

Have a u tube search I bet its on there.

That would be handy for him. He didn't know where the OBD2 socket was & said he'd look in the O M but I found it before he got a chance. I'll try with the Foxwell again & if it doesn't work He can do some bedtime reading . What diagnostic tool is the best for the L322's ?

We have the GAP for our 2011 and they are probably the best, but also very expensive.
It really depends on what he wants, how in depth for fault finding and resetting stuff v cost.

Some even use INPA software and a lead which turns out pretty cheap, but thats BMW software and I dont know what years it works on. There is also the SDD software. Both can seem to give some problems and need a laptop.
But if your foxwell works then that maybe enough for his future needs.

It really can be 1 of those "how long is a bit of string" type questions TBH.
