I've finally fitted the v8 into my 90 what a nightmere it's been.
Got it started tonight havn't sorted out the oil pressure light yet but it has a smiths gauge with capillary feed.On start up (bearing in mind its been sat for months now and ive given it an oil change filter etc) The gauge moves to about 0 when i take the clock off only a few dribble of oil come out the capillery line. Havn't run it for too long as this is a worry.Heard about vasiline in the oil pump but surely not for basicly an oil change?
Any help would be great.

I would remove plugs and give it a spin over for a few seconds to get some pressure, if still no joy fill oil filter with oil and try again. If still no pressure yes remove pump base plate and pack with vasiline, you can also get/make a tool to prime the pump via the dizzy hole.

I changed the oil on my 72 with the oid style oil pump but I filled the filter up before I put it on and pressure came up no problem.

whats up with the light? would be easier to pug it in and see if its your guage fooked or if you have no pressure

The oil pressure switch is a 3 pin type that is designed to cut the fuel pump out .So i need to remove it find the thread out and get a normal 1pin style. I thought i would wang it over with the capillery gauge, but ticking over the pressure is not coming up.I will try filling the oil filter up but the oil filter is side mounted due to the Steve parker style conversion kit thats fitted to the engine for a series.
Bearing in mind it's in a 90 i'll have to change my id photo soon.

dingo wanted £55 for a 1 pin and dealer £100. ebay has em for £7 , makes you wonder.

I am gonna try the one from my 79 parts car first as its free. my oil light comes on at 22 psi which cant be right!

HOW MUCH?

i got one off landrover bulkheads on ebay for around a fiver i think!

how dare they attempt to charge that for a farty sensor!!

Had chance to have a look at it today.Un screwed the oil filter and oil started to come out so screwed it back up.I've got time to play about with it tomorrow but i'm worried about running it up.Had a look at the capillery line to the smiths gauge and the pipe doesn't seem kinked.I had been watching a 4x4 is born and he had trouble with his pressure relief valve. Where is it ? The v8 thing is totally new to me.
