Hi Guys n Gals,
85, 3.5 V8, lpg conversion, oil light started to flicker, different revs, hi low, load makes no difference.

Done a search, know about sensor failure being a common thing, but before I go thru the route of buying this, waiting a day or two, fitting it, then buying the oil pump, waiting a day or two, fitting it, then checking for whatevers next (cracked block???)......

are there any easy way to test oil pressure that one of you could key me in on and perhaps waht it SHOULD be?

Ta!

I read some place that v8's don't rellay so much on any significant amount of oil pressure having sed that it coul'd simply be that the cable from the switch is earthing somehere??

You should be able to pipe a pressure gauge into the take off point for the sender.

Angelo, can you recall where you read that...seems strange to me?

Grunt (Grant?), Busterbus, thanks, any links to what sort of pressure guage I would need?

£133 FFS

But thanks, think i'll just keep an eye on the light an wait until it stops flashing then pull over, fone the rac!!!!

I, looking into it, but need to wait until i start working for a living again before i spend any more on my old wagon.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Well the workshop manual published by rover Technical communication states that a v8 oil press should be 2.75 bar[40lb/in]at2500 rev/min with engine at running temp. or try just change your oil filter they have a valve in them if at fault it could wreck your motor. I blew a BMW engine once because of it and it was a genuine oil filter as well [vorsprung durch technick] a what.
