While we are on the subject: I just picked up an oil pressure gauge. Can I swap out the wires from the idiot light on the dash and plug it directly into this?

Thx

Thx Clive. I HAVE the gauge. Can't I just swap it into the dash using the existing wires?

Our currency has gone to hell in a hand basket. By the time I land that here I'm at $75 bucks or so. I only paid $20. (cause I'm cheap)

This is a "Capillary" Pressure Gauge ie no electronics and every thing you need to get it to work.
As for using other "electronic" gauges this may be difficult due to the way old landys stabiles voltages (Electromagnetic / mechanically).
I don't know if there was ever one fitted to Series 3's (I have a 2a myself) but if there was then this is what you want to look for.

Ps
You say you have a guage well you can always try it and see what happens

does any one know if you can get electronic oil pressure senders for a 2a? 2.25 engine or one that will fit?

i have found a few more pressure sender units that fit in place or in conjunction with the existing pressure stuff. i think if the thread ir wight then it should work?
