Ah, OK. nice and convenient then. I've only had to go there once to get a reluctant fuel filter off, but they'd be my choice if I came unstuck with a repair. Bit further to go than you though!

Yes, it is convenient for me. I wouldn't use anyone else to be honest. And I rely on them for most things apart from the basics. Where are you then?
 
just another observation, the leak seems to have slowed down now that the engine is not running and is cooler. Would that point to anything specific at all or give any clues? Apologies for my total lack of knowledge on this..

I was there this morning, had a good yarn with the fellas and bought some new bits, good craic and they know Land Rovers like the back of their hands.

I have moved over to using them exclusively for my Land Rover parts recently as they might not be the cheapest but they are a firm worth supporting.

If the leak is in the engine oil system or the transmission oil system, then the oil would drop to the sump and stop there, there would be no pressure in it to push it out of a leak. This is probably also true of the ACE, the power steering and also the coolant! So it doesn't really help you much!
If it was in the coolant AND if the cap was not there to provide a vacuum to prevent the leak simply emptying the system, then maybe you'd see a difference in its level.
It appears you have ATF in your power steering, and that is the same as ATF in the transmission.
So I suggest you compare the smell of the power steering fluid to that of your leak. If it is the same but you have no leak in the power steering, then it points towards it being the transmission fluid pipework/cooler, as mentioned before. The age of your Disco 2 means it is likely the original green fluid has been replaced with ATF. Mine certainly has as have many others'.

I also have a leak on the left hand side of my car what I could not identify so far, seems engine oil. It is very minor but I want to solve...
I have cleaned that area several times, changed hose from reservoir to steering pump, checked fluid levels (constant). No leak from the top at all.
It shows up on the bottom of the pipes (reservoir to steering pump, coolant) and around (bottom of steering box, sump). Sometimes more, sometimes less.
The only thing what I am thinking about now is the front oil seal of the crankshaft.

Get a can of brake cleaner, give it a good soaking in the area and clean off. That way you have a nice clean area to see where the leaks coming from. My leak was from the steering box arm seal, and it was pizzing it out, so quite easy to spot once cleaned.
 
There it could be

Radiator leak, just needs a pinhole.
Power Steering pipe, run nearby.
ACE fluid, Ram is very near as are that rams pipes.
Auto box pipe.

Clean it off and also taste it.

Bitter - coolant
Oily one of other 3

When dry take some roundabouts fast and hard, then check again, or try some severe axle articulation off road, if a lot more suspect ACE pipes or the Dowty washer.
Woould help if all systems had correct oil CCF for steering and active anti roll.

Mine has a leak in that rough area - small leak from radiator, got one ready to fit when dry and warm.

They said it is very likely to be ACE related and that I should take it out regardless. I didn't make it to a garage today for an initial view so will look to do that again later in the week.

I put hydraulic hoses on mine
 
so this morning I have taken it to a specialist and they have suggested it is more than likley the ACE system So full mark to those who put that forward :)
I have left it up there for them to confirm and to then decide what to do with it. Great way to start the new year! The joys of LR ownership right....!

I am really hoping that I wont have problems on the scale of the P38 that I had. Despite paying top dollar for it which came with amazing history and a box full of receipts including all the usual gotcha's, it still went wrong even without moving. Cost me a fortune. Misses was well pleased. She was full of dread and less than positive when I turned up with a D2. She says I am in denial :)

they indicated that there is some kind of cracked pipe or something. But he will confirm tomorrow morning. Will update in due course
