hi all, well i had a leaky oil cooler before and had it changed and new pipe,
but still i am getting a leak,it all seems to be coming from under front bumper underneath along the metal chassis bar ,i dont know if this is excess oil from when i had the previous leak or what but its starting to p-me off, cant park on the drive etc and i feel like im driving an old banger which will blow up anytime soon, need to stop her bleeding.

any ideas lads from previous experiences?

cheers in advance

p.s the oil is brown/black

If the oil is brown black then it should not be from the transmission cooler, the transmission oil should be red cherry. It can be brown black only if the oil in the transmision is burnt which would indicate a faulty gearbox.

You mentioned that it is running along the chassis rail, check your power steering box is not leaking, and also the hoses from the power steering pump, these are notorious for leaking.

Hi,

Is this a diesel or petrol? What age? Manual/auto? I have a '96 diesel manual and had to replace the engine oil cooler which is below the intercooler only to find another leak. This was coming from the bottom of the radiator which in the earlier diesels is the gearbox oil cooler. You could get dark coloured oil from this if this is a manual gearbox and you have used MTF in it. If its a diesel is the oil running down from the pipe that comes out of the o/s of the intercooler? If so, you might want to clean your intercooler and replace the hose.
Hope this help.
