Hi guys. As a long term lurker firstly thanks for all the Hippo tips.

Im looking at the Halfords website offer right now and was wondering if the 5w30 full synthetic would be ok to use.

Its cheap and bmw LL-01 spec.
Would this be ok ? Thanks for any replies

If you would of do a search this has been done to death in the last 4 weeks. And if you were a lurker you would of seen that. IMO no but fook no:mad:

I can understand how yet another oil question may annoy folks and Ive read/searched through the oil posts here and elsewhere and see the oil used by owners varies quite a bit.

I was only wondering if this particular halfords 5w-30 looked ok to owners.Plus as its only a tenner for 4ltrs I thought it might be good for others too.

for a freelander1 td4 ? .. it will be ok ..

Flipping eck Thor patience is a virtue. Not everyone has the time to scour the past posts. He only asked thought we were all here to help each other

Tenners cheap for 4 litre

Regular oil changes are more important than fancy oil less often

Even if its a lower grade its better than nowt or leaving it too long

he said he was a window licker and got help for his gay lander. we had a BIG discussion about 5w30 oil if you was in the artic then ok. peeps look at cheap oil for there motor, pure stupid IMO oil is you cheapest maintenance for a 3-4k motor. If I ever saw a maintenance where 5w30 was used I would run away from It. your summer weather is very similar to Michigan weather and 10w40 would be summer oil and 10w30 winter oil, and our winter is longer and colder than yours. Even if it falls in the spec it does not carry the heat to the oil cooler like a 10w40 or 10w30 does. 5w30 is for artic weather plain and simple. He asked a question and I answered, very honest with no sarcasm.

This is like Wammers and Gems about 3in1 in the carbs:eek::p

Engines require different oils for the tolerances of the parts aswell as temperature

There is a shell website where you put ya number plate in a box, and it then lists all the oils , grease and antifreeze that is recommended for your vehicle, you can then print the list off and go but it elsewhere..

I do like a helpful oil company lol
