Standard method of engine oil level check of Joe public is, when they start the engine and hear a knocking there is no oil in it. That about sums up some of the present day dickheads out there. Electrics fail dipsticks don't.

If they want to go electronic, might be better to inhibit starting if the oil level is low plus an appropriate message such as:-
"Low oil dick Head"

Together with a list of parts needed to repair it and their cost, plus labour.
 
And then, even though the car is eleven years old and has done 93k, go running to the dealer expecting it to be repaired under "goodwill" from the manufacturer.

And go straight to "social media" when they're told to F off.

Either that or when that red light with outline of an oil can pops up on the dash if they even bother to look at dash that is of course.
