The primary seal goes in first sealing the engine preventing any sealant entering the engine in any way. Totally impossible for any oil ways to get blocked.Relying on silicone, and not the primary seal of the O ring, nope. I'd not use silicone on an engine, as once set, some bits could break away, enter the oil ways, and block them.
And make sure you do a nice clean up job, getting rid of all that cruddy oil... Smuggness will follow as you look at your nice clean engine...

Best way is to get the engine steam cleaned off.... then look from where its coming from. Leave the top and rear acoustic covers off for a while...

IMO you should find some serious mechanics then not botchersA lot of mechanics use silicone or rtv sealant on that cam cover. One i spoke to reckons on some td5s its the only way to sort it.
