What side of the engine does it leak from?

Are you 100% sure its oil?

How do you know it only leaks when the engine is off?

it seems to be coming from the back and its black so i assume its oil thats what i was told but not had chance to check properly yet .

i looked under neath and it only seems to do it when the engine is off

seems strange that, normally if an engine leaks, then it will do it more when it is running, dry it off as much as poss, then run the engine and see if you can see the leak,it might be fuel or oil.

They do tend to leak. Common leaks are.
Rocker gasket.
Cam seals.
Front and rear crankshaft seals.
Sump.

whats the average cost to have them replaced? any input is greatly received.

Depends what is leaking from where ...

Gearbox maybe more expensive than engine ...

Engine maybe more expensive than axles ...

Give it a good wash underneath - then have a good look with an inspection lamp ...
