Hi
had oil in water and thought headgasket had gone so replaced and there still seams to be oil getting into the water? Any ideas

u are very close, just that it's the other way around ...cracked oil cooler leaking oil into the coolant, quite common for Td5....and bl**dy expensive

Or could be the fuel cooler leaking diesel into the coolant. Favourite though is the oil cooler which is bolted the engine block below the exhaust manifold. If you dont run with suffcient antifreeze they rot from the inside out.

I agree with Shifty - I'm on my third oil cooler, the second was my own fault as didn't have enough anti-freeze in her.

its the oil cooler for sure, very comon problem,we replace with engeneered units mare from copper tubing and brass ends, not easaly corroded, good luck

So how much antifreeze is a safe level for the oil cooler?

50% all the time...cos it has anticorrosive and lubrication purposes for the whole system

Yes red or orange OAT anti freeze in the TD5. 50/50 mix.
