Just had the RAC man looking at my TD5 disco, and he found oil in the ECU connector...How does oil get in to the ECU connector is the ECU full of oil?
Puzzled?

I'd say that you have two problems there.
The oil in the ECU red plug is due to the seal on the injector harness having degraded and it's allowing oil to run down the wires from the engine towards the ECU. There's plenty about it here on the forum or check out this webpage:- http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Injector_harness.html
Your starter trouble is probably due to the starter relay (relay R2 in the engine fuse box) being stuck closed. I would reckon that's a good place to start looking. Automotive relays are cheap enough, and that one is just plug in.
The only other place which might be at fault is on the back of the ignition switch, but to be honest, that would seem unlikely, but not impossible.
I wouldn't recommend it with any of those relays except R3 (headlamp powerwash), relay R4 (cooling fan) or relay R8 (Heated front screen).I have not looked in rave, but is that relay swappable with any others? may be a quick and dirty way to check if there is a problem with the relay.
Cheers
Ok I will have a look at that just seems really weird that it is causing the Windows to stop working and causing the alarm to go off a guy told me a while back that it's the fuse box under the steering wheel I changed that then it all worked for a day then the problems came back againI'd say that you have two problems there.

As the fusebox is ruled out the next suspect for those symptoms(windows/alarm/starter) is the BCU... unfortunately to rule this out tester is needed cvos is subject of complex programming but it used to suffer from moisture or water ingressOk I will have a look at that just seems really weird that it is causing the Windows to stop working and causing the alarm to go off a guy told me a while back that it's the fuse box under the steering wheel I changed that then it all worked for a day then the problems came back again

Fantastic thanks for that where is the BCU located on the discovery 2 is it easy to remove? As the fusebox is ruled out the next suspect for those symptoms(windows/alarm/starter) is the BCU... unfortunately to rule this out tester is needed cvos is subject of complex programming but it used to suffer from moisture or water ingress
