Just bought 10 ltrs of 10w40 semi synthetic in Asda for £22.
Asdas own brand ??!
Assuming you are running a V8 it's a decent mineral oil you want. If you change it on a regular basis, ie every 3k, you will not need a flushing agent either. As for the oil itself, ask yourself why it's that cheap - attractive to the boy racer brigade maybe but I wouldn't put it in a RV8.
Think you need to ask yourself the converse question, why is the other stuff so expensive? Are Harrods tomatoes any better than cheap ones from Asda?
yes they are!!
Bull****. The oil that Manufactures recommend is down to how much they can get it off Castrol, Texaco or whoever to fill new car sumps up as cheaply as possible. As long as the oil meets the specs quoted it is fine to use regardless of how cheap it is.
yes, but you asked about tomatoes
castrol spends millions and millions on advertising how do you think they pay for that??
simple, they don't you do buy buying the product!
anyway toms grown for ASDA are 99% done by a process called hydroponics and they are crap when taste tasted against a "real" ground grown tomato but stack them high sell them cheap!
A long long time ago a bloke called Bernard Braden did a show called the Braden beat. He was a Canadian bloke. He took a box of tomatoes and split them into two batches, put them on the same stall, one cheap and one dear. The dear ones sold out first. It's a marketing trick used by companies to make the buyer think they are getting something they are not. Same applies to motor oil. Or anything else for that matter. Castrol spend millions providing cheap oil to manufactures then make billions from mugs who use recommended brands.
true even the most astute person can easily be fooled by marketing
Look for the spec NOT the name on the tin.
I spotted it a few days ago but dint have much cash on me so pointed it out to the wife to get some next time shes in! she forgot yesterday but Ive just texted her to get some (she spends half her spare time in there)

I got my own coalI grow my own tomatoes, don't think she would like an oil rig in the garden otherwise I would be drilling.
